If you want to travel from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel, various ferries are available from two ferry operators. You can choose between fast catamaran ships that are only suitable for passengers or take a vehicle on the slower car ferry, which takes about an hour.
The two ferry companies that sail from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel are easy to distinguish. Ultramar sails in blue-yellow colors, while Winjet sails in orange.
- Ultramar's fast ships sail to Cozumel in 35 minutes.
- Winjet takes about 45 minutes but is a fraction cheaper.

You can buy ferry tickets at one of the kiosks in the harbor or easily online to be assured of a place on the desired sailing. Via Bookaway, you can book a ticket for both Winjet and Ultramar. For a small extra fee, you can also sail First class.
Timetable
The first departures are around 8 am, and the last boats sail back around 10 pm. You can choose from at least 20 departures daily, which doesnβt even include the car ferry. The ferry operates 365 days a year, but the number of departures per day may vary depending on the season.
Ferry Ticket price
The cheapest transfer costs about $12. You can join Ultramar's faster boat for a little more, around $13. Do you want something more luxurious? A first-class ticket is $16.
