Traveling from Koh Lipe to Koh Lanta by Speedboat or Ferry

Instead of traveling through Thailand using minivans or buses, you can take a direct speedboat or ferry from Koh Lipe to Koh Lanta, without passing through Pak Bara. This is one of the longest sea crossings in Thailand, covering approximately 70 nautical miles (130 km). Operators such as Tiger Line and Satun Pakbara Speed Boat Club offer this route, and the journey typically takes 3 to 4 hours, depending on weather conditions and the type of boat.

We initially didn't plan to visit Koh Lanta, so we didn't take this direct route ourselves. However, we eventually made our way there through alternative means. If you're not prone to seasickness and prefer the most direct and hassle-free way to travel between these two islands, we highly recommend this crossing. It’s a beautiful and straightforward journey that takes you directly to your destination.

For those who experience motion sickness, it's a good idea to take travel sickness medication, as the sea can sometimes be rough, especially during the low season. Since this is a popular route, especially between November and April, it's best to book your tickets in advance to secure your spot.

An adventurous crossing over the Andaman Sea again between Koh Lipe and Koh Lanta. As you can see on the map this is the longest TigerLineFerry crossing
