If you want to book the Brisbane-Tangalooma ferry, you can choose from two ferry companies. Together they make many crossings at various times.
Getting to Moreton Island (Brisbane – Tangalooma)
There are two different ferries to Moreton Island. A passenger ferry goes from Brisbane to the Tangalooma resort, and another ferry lands on the beach near Tangalooma Shipwrecks. You can take your 4WD on this ferry and drive it straight onto the beach.
There used to be a connection from Amity Point (North Stradbroke Island) to Kooringal (Moreton Island), but this connection is currently inactive. If you want to travel from North Stradbroke to Moreton Island, you can call a local water taxi.

About this crossing
from Brisbane to Moreton Island
Moreton Island, a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and beach lovers, is accessible by two ferry services from Brisbane, depending on whether you're traveling as a foot passenger or bringing a 4WD vehicle.
Ferry Options from Brisbane to Tangalooma
The passenger ferry departs from Holt Street Wharf, Pinkenba, and takes around 75 minutes to reach Tangalooma Island Resort. This service is ideal for those staying at the resort or exploring the island without a vehicle. Passengers can enjoy an air-conditioned cabin and a baggage allowance, but advance booking is recommended, especially during peak seasons.
For those bringing a 4WD, the vehicle ferry departs from the Port of Brisbane (Fisherman Island Terminal) and lands directly on the beach near the Tangalooma Wrecks in about 90 minutes. This ferry allows you to drive straight onto the sand, making it the preferred option for those planning off-road adventures on the island. However, permits are required for driving on Moreton Island, and it's essential to book the ferry in advance as space for vehicles is limited.

Micat Ferry Brisbane-Moreton Island

The Micat arrives at the shipwrecks with both cars and foot passengers on board. At the top left of the photo you can see the resort where the other ferry is sailing to.
The Micat is the only ferry for cars that sails to Moreton Island. It costs around $120 for a one-way trip when you bring a car. Make sure this is a 4WD since Moreton Island is a sand island. This ferry arrives at 15, a 15-minute walking distance from the Tangalooma resort. If you want to travel as a foot passenger to the resort, the Tangalooma service might be a better option.

Tangalooma Resorts Ferry to Moreton Island

The fast ferry for passengers approaches the resort on Moreton Island.
This ferry departs near the airport in Brisbane. Seek the ‘Holt Street Wharf' in Pinkenba. From here you can get to the island in 75 minutes. This is also the fastest ferry connection. You'll sail with Tangalooma's fleet.
Parking at the ferry docks
Yes, there is an open-air car park available for Tangalooma guests at Holt St Wharf. The costs are $20 per vehicle per day or $80 per week. The car park is fenced and locked each evening.
Micat also got paid parking possibilities, however, on the weekends, this parking is quite full. If the parking is full it's not that easy to find a good parking spot nearby.ย
I know this site is specifically for ferries, however I have heard they do water taxis? Is this true?
Hi Ruhaul,
I honestly think that these 3 ferries are the best way for reaching this island. There are ‘excursion based' trips available however but we are unsure about water taxi's.
